We continue to see more integration of blockchain and music industries this summer. The latest news on that front comes from The Sandbox and Warner Music Group, who have partnered up for a new land sale, referred to as the ‘Infinite Pulse Land Sale’. Registration for the land raffle is open now. The neighborhood with plots available for this land sale features a large estate owned by Warmer Music, plus a number of other musical neighbors, including Blond:ish, Slipknot, Jamiroquai, Pixelynx, and even Elvis Presley (well, his estate anyway)! Just to name a few. This looks to be a pretty tight neighborhood!

This sale follows the usual routine that The Sandbox has set up. To purchase one of the available plots outright, participants must first join and win a raffle. Interested parties can enter the raffle at The Sandbox website. Entry is free, though you must have enough SAND tokens in your wallet for the type of plot you wish to purchase (1,011 SAND tokens for a standard plot, 4683 tokens for a premium)

Raffle signups began on June 22nd and remain open through July 12th. Winners will be announced on July 14th, with sales opening that same day and running through July 18th. Any unpurchased plots from the sale head to OpenSea for auction. In addition to the raffle, there will also be 11 Estate plots and 10 small plots up for auction starting on the 14th also. Raffle entry, auctions, and land plot purchases are all on the Polygon network. Purchases are made with SAND tokens.

Also, as an additional bonus for this sale, those who purchase Premium land plots will have an opportunity to win tickets to real life concerts. No details available yet for that. But it’s always nice to see real life perks included in NFT sales!

The Sandbox has been heavily promoting the idea of neighborhoods in their virtual world. At the moment, plot proximity has no effect on gameplay. However, at some point the future, there will be some kind of ability to travel between adjacent plots. Which could make who you have for neighbors somewhat important!

Sandbox Land

Land plots in The Sandbox provide their owners with a number of benefits. Land owners can join a limited, exclusive pool for staking SAND tokens, receive access to special events and early access to new features, and will also receive airdrops of Gems and Catalysts sometime in 2023. Gems and Catalysts will be used to enhance items in The Sandbox.

But, the real reason to own a land in The Sandbox is to build your own game or social experience. This includes art galleries, music clubs, hangouts, and whatever else can be imagined and built. Eventually, land owners will even be able to monetize their experiences. The Sandbox offers VoxEdit, a tool for creating and animating game assets, and Game Maker, a software app for building, designing, and publishing your own Sandbox experience. Both are free to use and receive regular updates with new features.

Ever wanted to try your hand at playing Axie Homeland but don’t own an Axie land plot? Well then your time has come as Axie Homeland introduces Land Delegation! Land delegation allows land owners to designate others to run and manage their land, while still receiving any rewards from the leaderboard rankings.

Land delegation, a pseudo-scholarship program, makes its way to Axie Homeland. Axie land delegation lets land owners without the time or energy to manage their land plots, make a deal with players who don’t own any land, but are interested in land management. These secondary players are called Stewards in the Axie universe.

The delegation process is manual at the moment. Land owners must select their plot and input the address of the player they wish to delegate to. There is no official rental market. All rewards earned by placing on the leaderboards are automatically sent to the land owner’s Ronin wallet. It is up to the Steward and the property owner to work out any payment details. Owners can set delegation periods from 1 to 365 days. Land owners can also choose to revoke land access to a Steward, 24 hours after their initial delegation.

While it’s unfortunate that the new land delegation feature isn’t fully integrated into the game, allowing for blockchain-enforced contracts between two players, this is at least a step in the right direction. And while we still wait for the land-based gameplay that doesn’t require access to a land plot, land delegation works as an excellent tool both for landowners, and those who are just interested in playing Axie Homeland.

Axie Homeland is a game about building and growing on your land plot while putting your Axies to work. The main goal of Homeland is to manage a settlement as efficiently as possible in order to equip adventurers with gear and supplies to defeat waves of monsters. The more successful these adventurers are, the more rewards the landowner receives. Players need to grow crops and construct buildings, assigning Axies to take care of the work.

My Neighbor Alice, the web3 farming and building game reminiscent of Stardew Valley, prepares to launch into season 3 of their alpha. And this season brings a number of big updates, including crafting, connection to the Chromia appnet, and a free trial system for players who don’t own any land plots for the game!

Customization is the theme of season 3. After already introducing resource gathering through activities such as fishing and farming, My Neighbor Alice is now ready to open up crafting in their game. Players will have access to a new crafting system, allowing them to create wearable items for their avatars and decorations for their land plots.

At the end of Alpha Season 3, all reward items and items that players crafted using ALICE tokens will migrate to Season 4 with no action required by the player. However, all other items will be wiped for the next phase.

This season also brings a partnership with the real life brand Elle. Players will be able to engage in special quests and earn Elle branded, decorative item NFTs from the “MOTS D’AMOUR” collection.

Participants can play for free in season 3 via a borrowing system. This system lets players make use of a free, though limited, parcel of land from the Alice Foundation. Players will need a WalletConnect compatible wallet for authentication. If this is something that you are interested in, you may want to fill out the pre-registration form. It seems like they may have limited slots available for this playtest.

The Forge Arena, a popular blockchain-based fast-paced competitive FPS game, has announced new patch updates in a significant development.

This is an exciting development because the update is the final one before the game switches to the much-anticipated Unreal Engine 5. The new updates reintroduce the previous version of Competitive Maps: Origins & Exodus, albeit with some minor changes to post-processing and directional lights. It was on May 31 that the co-founder of the RPG series Illuvium, Kieran Warwick, released a statement in the Discord community that he had raised an additional $10 million in funding from Framework Ventures.

The money raised will accelerate the development of this game. This transaction is completed through a token, which will be locked for two years and will not be included in the commit, so it will not participate in the distribution of benefits.

Superior opens up a two week playtest on Gala Games, bringing players the first opportunity to play and earn, as well as utilize their NFTs!

Superior actually launched an early access version on Steam back in November of 2022. And while they have expanded, updated, and bugfixed their game quite a bit since then, the Steam version was still a basic web2 style game. It didn’t include NFTs or the type of rewards system that we expect with web3 gaming. That all changes with a two week playtest that started on May 15th and runs through May 30th!

This playtest will be via the Gala Games launcher. This connects players to the game via the blockchain, and lets them use their NFTs when playing. But you won’t need an NFT to play. Anyone with a Gala Games account can join in on the fun!

There will be a leaderboard competition from May 22nd though May 29th. The top 50 players receive an Uncommon Murmur or Nomad character, while the top 25% of the players receive a new, NFT backpack!

The Future of Superior

Both the web3 and web3 versions will be able to play in the same games together. But, when Superior moves onto the GYRI network (AKA the Gala Games blockchain), there will a number of benefits to playing the web3 version.

First off, there will be Challenge Rewards. Players will sometimes find Golden Challenge Keys. These Keys provide access to a special, fixed-seed, map run. Players use their Keys to join the run and compete for top spots on the leaderboard. Players earn points based on kills and the amount of time it took to complete the level. This will be a weekly event, with the top 25% of the players on the leaderboard earning points, which can then be redeemed for GALA tokens based on the size of a reward pool.

Also arriving soon is loot-based character customization. Players can find loot during runs and equip them, or even mint them as NFTs. And since Superior will run in seasons, many of these cosmetics will be available for one season only!

What is Superior?

Superior is a co-op FPS / RPG that see players hunting down mutated superheroes and taking powers from defeated enemies to grow stronger. The game is a mission-based, cooperative, PvE experience with an evolving storyline. Missions are dynamically generated to provide varying experiences. As players progress through the missions, then have chances to upgrade their weapons and acquire various powers to help them in their quest. The farther they get, the more powerful they become, but at the same time, the challenges increase in difficulty.
When all players in a group die during a mission, the story ends, and their progress is reset. However, they do get to keep any experience acquired along the way, and use that for permanent boosts to their Characters. Players can also earn extra experience through ‘Gigs’, or daily quests. These are basic things such as kill a number of enemies, or repair a certain amount of armor.

Each Character has their own skill tree and players have a number of customizations to choose from, both when starting a mission, and when leveling up. At the start of a new story, players get to pick an initial power for that game. This, coupled with varying weapons and a number of skill options makes for a pretty wide starting base. And since each Character also customizes further as they progress through the story, Superior can be a different playthrough each time.

Superior features Weapon and Character NFTs. The game offers free Characters to play, though players who use a NFT character level up more quickly. Characters’ level caps are based on their rarity, but the caps can be raised via an ‘Infamy system’. Character NFTs keep their Infamy score, even when changing hands.

In order to actually level up a hero, whichever type, the hero has to earn experience points by completing adventures and doing attack and defense missions. Once the necessary number of XP is reached, the hero levels up, gets their health fully restored, and gains a couple of upgrading points that can be used towards improving various stats, that include the following: Hero’s speed, Hero’s force (attack and defense), Attack of units, Defense of units and Speed of units. Players can further enhance their character using various different items as well.
