Shatterpoint is an NFT-based, Free-to-Play (F2P), action RPG mobile game built on the Polygon blockchain. Players battle in a Player vs Environment (PvE) campaign to gain Abilities, Experience, and the Equipment needed to take on the challenge of Player vs Player (PvP), the combat mode where in-game Tokens, rewards, and leaderboard domination are at stake.
Welcome to the ShatterPoint Universe
Our world is at risk, do you have the skills to ensure your survival?
500 years ago marks the first time historians recorded the Portals, which were said to have appeared out of nowhere. These mysterious gateways released countless barbaric warriors, twisted monsters, and endless armies across our world.
Most of the world was destroyed, but hope was not lost, for a new army of courageous heroes emerged. Led by the one called Karluq, his band of heroes became known as The Travelers. They were the first to travel to the stars in search of a way to defend their worlds.
Your story begins as you join the honored ranks of The Travelers!
Set in the Shatterpoint universe, players try to escape The Shattering. This irreversible phenomenon resets all the stats of non-NFT Heroes back to zero at the end of each Season. Competing over time-limited challenges, players develop their skill-based gameplay to win in-game resources, progress through the game, and perhaps turn their non-NFT Hero into an NFT, never to fall victim to The Shattering again. Become stronger by acquiring Equipment, upgrading Runes and collecting Quantus. Quantus is an in-game token/resource required for various in-game actions.
Play & Own
Unlike other unsustainable Play-to-Earn and Pay-to-Win games on the market, Shatterpoint focuses on skill-based Free-to-Play and Play & Own models. Shatterpoint is a level playing field – all players have the possibility to upgrade to an NFT-powered Hero and acquire NFT Runes via gameplay. At this point, Shatterpoint becomes a Play & Own game offering players a near-infinite number of playable strategies.
Available on mobile
The Shatterpoint game will be available on App Store and Google Play, while the marketplace will be accessible via mobile and desktop browsers.
Spacetime is not as rigid as it seems. From this point onwards, the Interstice, the space in between dimensions, is becoming unstable. In the event called the Shattering, it will break, and time will fold unto itself, molding, ripping, and merging until… it resets to its previous stable state, only to shatter again.
None the wiser, everyone continues through the next cycle — all except for Karluq. He knows the ultimate fate of the universe only too well, retaining his memories and power. Karluq may not be strong enough to affect these cycles on his own, but he can get help. Through the numerous Shatterings, by trial and error, Karluq recruits Travelers: Free Awarenesses merged with Vessels.
Players find themselves in the Interstice as a Free Awareness, able to jump between multiple Vessels and travel through portals to other dimensions. Now they need to venture forth and make their Vessels strong enough to survive the upcoming Shatterings.
At the end of each Season, the universe collapses in on itself in The Shattering. The phenomenon resets all non-NFT Hero levels to their introductory levels. To give existing players an advantage over new ones, everyone gets to keep their Runes and Tokens, with all collected Gear dismantled into Equipment Shards. While devastating, The Shattering allows the universe to recreate itself at the beginning of each Season with new enemies, campaign modes to traverse, and bigger worlds to discover.
The Campaign is (currently) divided into 5 Worlds. Each World has 2 modes: Campaign and Skirmish.
Completing Campaign Levels furthers the overall Campaign progress and unlocks new Worlds. Players encounter enemies, find gear chests, and have to complete the main Quest to finish the Level. They can also complete optional Quests to gain more Experience.
Campaign Levels are relatively safe, allowing Players to familiarise themselves with the game’s mechanics. Partial level progress is not saved.
Boss Levels are a special type of Campaign Level. They are arenas made for facing off against very strong opponent with their own unique mechanics.
If a Boss is not defeated within a certain time limit, they become Enraged. In this mode, the Boss gains various buffs: more damaging attacks, regenerating health, and weak enemies appearing to help, depending on the Boss. While not impossible to win against an Enraged boss, it is considerably more difficult.
Skirmish Levels are endless. They’re mainly for gathering gear from defeated mobs. Items collected are immediately available to be equipped from the inventory screen. Skirmish Levels do not further the main Campaign and are optional.
Each world has a unique set of enemies relevant to the world’s environment. Players must be prepared to fight melee, ranged, and other mobs with various special abilities.
During the adventures in Campaign mode, players receive plenty of equippable items either dropped by defeated enemies or in loot boxes. All equipment provides various affixes and intrinsic stats, and some also give the player abilities (see Equipment section for more info).
Player vs Player core mode is a best-of-5 3v3 arena team deathmatch. Every player enters with a hero they own or rent. Heroes are not limited, because identical heroes can be built differently, depending on gear.
Initially, matchmaking will be based on a combination of Power Potential (a way of calculating total gear level) and Win/Loss. Before launching a ranked mode, we will most likely implement a form of Elo rating system.
Players can wager some QUA. Winner takes all. We’re also considering a way to introduce asymmetrical wagering.
The Shatterpoint economy is designed to be run by players for players. Since the in-game reward resource, QUA, is off-chain and non-tradable (except in limited amounts for $SHA via the Shatterpoint Treasury), the economy revolves around NFTs – Heroes, Runes, and more.
Each new season holds the promise of new Heroes but the virtual certainty of new Gear destined to shift the game’s meta. The Gear may fit some Heroes better than others and will need Runes that differ from the previous season’s to boost different abilities. Chasing the latest/hottest build (mix of Hero, Gear and Runes) will fuel the Shatterpoint marketplace and drive the economy.
The Shatterpoint economy will elicit assorted participants and activities – Rune traders and Rune mergers, for example. Traders will purchase Runes on the marketplace, focusing on those that boost particular abilities, gambling on the potential popularity and increasing value of certain boosts in future seasons. Rune mergers will see traders acquiring cheap “redundant” Runes with zero or very few boosts, trying their luck at Merging to create rarer, perhaps more powerful Runes.
We’ll be announcing further details on the Shatterpoint economy as more information is released.
Shards, also known as Equipment Shards, are an in-game resource acquired by dismantling equipment collected in PvE mode, after which they are spent together with Quantus (QUA) to receive Utility Boxes.
Quantus (QUA) is an infinite-supply in-game reward token for activities within the game
Players earn QUA by playing the game:
Achievements – A wide array of achievements for the most skilled and committed players to unlock and reap the rewards. Benefits include, but are not limited to QUA
Daily/Weekly/Seasonal Challenges – Available to all players daily/weekly/seasonally, allowing anyone to earn QUA and incentivizing users to be active in PvE & PvP modes
Tournaments & Special Events – The opportunity to win QUA in a series of Tournaments, exciting game modes, and Special Events
Wagered PvP Fights – Players can wage QUA and compete in a number of PvP modes, with winners splitting the prize pool
Players use QUA for in-game activities, such as:
Engraving & Merging Runes – Runes are an essential part of the gameplay. QUA is needed for Engraving and Merging Runes to reach their full potential
Hero Trait Unlock – QUA is needed to unlock the Hero’s hidden Traits. These Traits strengthen Heroes by increasing their stat points
Hero Trait Reroll – Players can use QUA to reroll their Hero Traits, giving them the potential to gain a Rare or Legendary Trait while boosting the power and value of their character
Utility Boxes – In-game Equipment Shards can be spent together with QUA to receive Utility Boxes containing Gear
Equipment Repair – All equipment items can be repaired using QUA, allowing players to continue using their beneficial powers and beloved gear
Tournament & Special Event tickets – To participate in Special Events and Tournaments where the highest rewards are won, players will need QUA to purchase entry tickets
The Shatterpoint team is currently considering allowing the withdrawal of a limited number of in-game QUA tokens via the Shatterpoint Treasury and exchange to $SHA. With that, we would allow other players to purchase in-game QUA for $SHA from the Shatterpoint Treasury, but only the amount made available by other players selling QUA. It would work as a market maker between players wanting to exchange QUA to $SHA and vice-versa, with price adjustment dependent on supply/demand.
The Shatter Point game will have several distinct types of Non-Fungible tokens (NFTs):
Heroes are at the core of Shatterpoint. They are NFT or non-NFT player-controlled avatars engaging in PvE and PvP gameplay modes
NFT Heroes are distributed in limited quantities across each Season
NFT Heroes are incredibly valuable as they avoid the Shattering and keep their level and Traits across Seasons, while all non-NFT Heroes are reset to level 1 and lose their Traits each Season
Every Hero is unique due to its individual set of randomly rolled Traits
Runes are powerful, game-changing artifacts that Heroes can equip to upgrade the special abilities of the items wielded by the character
Cosmetics – skins (cosmetic changes) that can be applied to your equipment, with every Season having a unique set of skins released that may only be acquired during that particular Season
More types of NFT items are being considered and will be added to the game (e.g., Rune Chisels), which can be used by players to add additional Rune slots to their equipment items
Shatterpoint ($SHA) is the Governance & Ecosystem Token with several uses:
Governance Token – stake and vote on Shatterpoint’s development/governance decisions. More info to be shared soon.
Staking Rewards – get staking rewards in the form of APY and NFTs. The team is also evaluating to distribute proportion of the Shatterpoint NFT royalties back to the community through Staking.
Bridge between in-game QUA that can be exchanged to/from $SHA in limited quantities.
The team is evaluating the potential for integrating this currency for use on the Shatterpoint Marketplace.
More to be announced and added as the game grows.
Not used as an in-game resource initially. However, in future seasons some NFT upgrade-related activities might be shifted from QUA to $SHA.
Since $SHA will be listed on all the largest exchanges, players can exchange any cryptocurrency for $SHA and vice versa at the market rate.
